Scholarship and Awards
Cutler Scholar Awards are merit-based scholarships funded by generous gifts from forward-thinking individuals who understand that investing in education is investing in the future. The eligible population for each Cutler Scholars Award is determined by the benefactor for whom the award is named. The benefactor designates one of the following:

Discipline-based Scholarships
To be considered for a discipline-based award, a student must be a freshman applicant to an eligible college and/or major at Ohio University. Discipline-based awards are available to Ohio residents, with the exception of the Russ Legacy Award which is open to in-state and out-of-state students. Selection for an award is contingent on admission to the appropriate program of study. Click on the name of an academic unit for information about awards in that field of study for 2020-21.
Russ College of Engineering and Technology
Russ Legacy Cutler Scholar Award
Eligible population: Students admitted to the Russ College of Engineering and Technology
Award: Full scholarship
T. Richard and Eleanora K. Robe Cutler Scholar Award
Eligible population: Students admitted to the Russ College of Engineering and Technology
Award: $23,000 annual renewable scholarship
E. W. Scripps School of Journalism
David C. and Joan Herrold Wood Cutler Scholar Award
Eligible population: Ohio residents admitted to journalism in the E.W. Scripps College of Journalism.
Award: $23,000 annual renewable scholarship
College of Business
Herbert and Dorothy Adler Cutler Scholar
Eligible population: Ohio residents admitted to the College of Business
Award: $23,000 annual renewable scholarship
College of Fine Arts
Wilfred R. and Ann Lee Konneker College of Fine Arts Cutler Scholar Award
Eligible population: Ohio residents admitted to the College of Fine Arts.
Award: $23,000 annual renewable scholarship
Humanities Majors in the College of Arts and Sciences
Claire O. and Charles J. Ping Cutler Scholars Award
Eligible population: Ohio residents admitted to humanities majors in the College of Arts and Sciences. Majors in the following fields are eligible: English; history; classics & world religions; modern languages; philosophy; linguistics; women’s, gender, & sexuality studies; African American studies.
Award: $23,000 annual renewable scholarship
Geographically-based Scholarships
To be considered for a geographic award, a student must be a graduating senior at an eligible high school. Students taking time off before entering college are welcome to apply for an award as long as the student is a freshman applicant to OHIO.
